Student dies after being denied Exeat

Okuapeman senior high school in the Eastern region of Ghana is facing a tragic issues and are appealing to the government to come to their aid. Recently two students of the school faced a critical condition of which one of the students in akuffo house lost her life in the process. The deceased student as said by our reporter on the ground was a sickle cell patient and was very ill and admitted to the sick bay of the school and she constantly demanded an exeat to go home for treatment and was denied by her headmistress (Mrs. Teabu) on several occasions. After a month when her situation was worsened she was discharged to go home of which her arrival to the house that day ended up losing her life at home. Secondly, another student in Addo Dankwa house who was having an abdomen problem and was to travel outside the country for a surgical treatment after her final paper and was scheduled for an interview before her due date to travel. She made payment of GH20,000 (Twenty thousand Ghana cedi’s) for her surgery and as it was time for her traveling interview, she was denied  exceat by her madam (madam Helen) and due to that the payment of money made was canceled and had no return policy to the amount to be returned her. Als the sickle cell patient in the school are being maltreated by the management and teachers in the school and also crying for help.
