2022 World Cup: Black Stars must make amends against Nigeria after poor Afcon campaign – Yaw Preko

Yaw Preko has backed the Black Stars to qualify ahead of Nigeria following their disappointing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] campaign.

The four-time African champions who were chasing their fifth continental title were crashed out at the group stage after failing to win a single game in the group stage.

With the Black Stars set to host Nigeria at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the second leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on March 29, 2022.

The winner of the tie will represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022, in Qatar.

“Ghana is really disappointed in them so they need to make amends and this is the game to do that. Fortunately, unfortunately, it’s going to be against Nigeria. When you’re able to kick Nigeria out, the support will come again and everybody will be on our side,” Preko, a former Ghana international said.

“It’s not going to be easy for the boys. Playing against Nigeria, they can do you or you can do them- it goes both ways.

“I remember my first game for the Black Stars was against Nigeria way back in 1991 against the likes of Stephen Keshie, Eguavoen, and the rest. I took it like ‘this is my first match. Come on, go in and do your thing.”
