The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has said inflation rate for February 2022 was 15.7 percent. Food inflation for February 2022 was 17.4%, indicating 2.9 percentage point inflation higher than non-food (14.5%). Food inflation for February 2022 recorded a 3.7 percentage point increase compared to January 2022. Food inflation for February 2022 recorded a 6.6 percentage point increase in relative to the average over the last 12 month March 2021 to February, 2022. Non-Food inflation for February 2022 recorded a 3.8 percentage point increase in relative to the average over the last 12 month March 2021 to February. 2022 Month-on-Month food inflation (3.2%) surpassed non-food inflation (1.7%) by 1.5 percentage points Variation in locally produced items (16.7%) and imported items (12.9%) for January 2022 was 3.8 percentage points.

The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) is requesting the sum of GHS6000 each from some 240 candidates who have been shortlisted for interview for the position of Director and Analogous grades.

According to the OHLGS, the money is for a three-day high-level residential refresher training workshop to prepare the officers for the impending interview.

The interviewees have been directed to make the payment to the Legon main branch of Absa Bank by 23 March 2022
